How upvotes and rankings work

One upvote per member per tool. Community lists come from member activity, paid slots are labeled, and makers may not ask for votes.

Using the directory · Updated Nov 2, 2026

Upvotes are a quick way for members to say a tool is worth a look. Together with reviews, they decide where tools appear in the community-ranked lists.

How upvotes work

  • Each member gets one upvote per tool.
  • Upvote tools you have actually used and would point a friend toward.
  • An upvote is not a review. If you have something to say about a tool, write a review as well.

The community-ranked lists

  • Top rated is based on member review ratings.
  • Most upvoted is based on member upvotes.
  • Trending reflects recent community attention.

These lists come from what members do. No one can pay to join them, move up in them or push a competitor down. Paid plans never change an upvote count, a rating or a position in any of them. Affiliate commissions do not change them either.

Labeled paid slots

Separately from those lists, makers on the Featured and Spotlight plans can appear in labeled slots: a Featured slot at the top of a category, a slot in "Alternatives to" rails, or a rotating Sponsored spotlight on the homepage. Each slot carries a label, so you can always tell it apart from the community rankings. See plans for AI makers.

What counts as vote manipulation

  • A maker asking people to upvote their tool.
  • Trading upvotes with other makers or members.
  • Offering anything in exchange for an upvote, such as credits, discounts or early access.
  • Upvoting from more than one account, or organizing others to vote together.

Manipulated upvotes are removed. The listings and accounts involved may be limited, removed or banned.

For makers

Letting people know your tool is listed is fine. Asking them to upvote it is not. The way to rise is a product people actually want, an accurate listing and thoughtful replies to feedback. Share what you built in Show Your AI, and keep your listing accurate so the right people find it.

For members

  • Vote on the tool, not on the maker or the hype around it.
  • Try a tool before you upvote it.
  • If you see someone asking for or trading votes, report it or contact us.
