About open source ai

Open source AI covers models, applications, libraries and frameworks whose code, and in many cases model weights, are publicly available. People choose them to inspect how things work, adapt them to their own needs, avoid depending on a single vendor, keep data in-house, or build products on top of them. Read the license first. Licenses for AI projects vary a lot, and some that look open place limits on commercial use, the number of users or certain kinds of use. Make sure you can use it the way you plan to. Then look at how active the project is: recent updates, responsive maintainers, clear documentation and a community that answers questions. Consider the hardware and skills needed to run and update it yourself, and who you can turn to when something breaks.
